Our Gender Reveal

So far in the pregnancy we've been so cautious about sharing our pregnancy news and resisted the urge to get too excited about our baby.  But after finding out that all of our baby's major organs looked good at our level 2 sono last week, we finally decided to celebrate our huge blessing with our local friends and family.  What better way is there to celebrate that with an exciting Gender Reveal Party?
Our guests were urged to display their gender guess by drinking out of either a pink or blue straw.
I set up another guessing area in our dining room.
I provided everyone with Old Wives Tales as a basis...
And then had them make a final guess on paper

We were the only two people at the party who knew the real answer!
We served Champagne and Sparkling Lemonade/Water for the pregnant ladies
I attempted to make appetizers that satisfied the theme of "Pregnancy Cravings"
These mini Chicken & Waffles were a huge hit and have quickly become my current craving!
Not quite a pregnancy craving, but every party needs a veggie plate
Sticking with the craving theme, I also served Roasted Corn and Crab Dip, Fried Pickles, and BBQ Meatballs.
For a sweet ending we had the official gender reveal cupcakes!
Once everyone arrived, we had a brief toast
And passed the cupcakes out to each person
My Mom aka Grandma took the first bite and was obviously thrilled

Within seconds everyone knew what we were having!
My version of gender reveal cupcakes
It's a boy!
Most of our friends guessed correctly!
A girl didn't have a chance :)

We felt so fortunate and blessed to have so many people venture out on a cold weeknight, and after long workdays, to celebrate our baby boy with us.  Who knew a Wednesday night could be so much fun?!?
I highly recommend hosting a gender reveal party yourself one day, I'm so glad that I did!
