Total Weight Gain: 8 pounds total. I've gained 1 pound since last week.
Size of the Baby: A Mango. About 6 inches long and weighs about 8.5 ounces (9 ounces per our sono).
Movement: I've been feeling little flutters low in my belly every couple of days since 17 weeks. I'm almost certain that it's baby at this point. I felt them the strongest during the biceps track of my Body Pump class last week. I guess baby "C" isn't the biggest fan of bicep curls either.
How I'm Feeling: Pretty good. I'm still worthless after 9pm each night but I'm not nearly as exhausted as I was during the first 12 weeks. I worked three 12 hour shifts in a row this weekend and I did notice that they wore me out even more than usual. But besides the occasional round ligament pain on the sides of my belly and the nightly heartburn, life is pretty good.
Sleep: Has been amazing until about 3 days ago. I'm hitting the point where I just can't seem to find a comfortable position to sleep in. My new Boppy Prenatal Pillow is quickly becoming a necessity each night.
Exercise: Lately I've been doing two short runs (2-3 miles) and a body pump class each week. But just this week I started to notice that I feel the urge to pee the entire time I'm running. My guess is that the baby is pounding on my bladder with each step. That feeling is getting old fast, so I'm debating a move to the elliptical for the remainder of my pregnancy. Any other pregnant runners experience this?
Food Cravings: Mostly sour stuff. I absolutely have to have a grapefruit each morning and can't imagine anything better at this point. I'm also loving salt&vinegar chips, Trader Joe's Cinnamon Apple Sticks, Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches, and pineapple. I just can't seem to get enough fruit!
Maternity Clothes? I've been making do with leggings and belly bands+jeans so far. I have officially upgraded to size medium scrub pants at work and I'm sure a medium scrub top is not far behind. My amazing friend, Andrea, lent me 4 pairs of maternity jeans last week. They just happen to fit like a glove so I'm sure they and some of my larger tops/blouses, will be making up the bulk of my wardrobe in the coming weeks.
Stretch Marks? Not yet, but I'm rubbing in the cocoa butter each night in hopes of preventing them!
Belly Button? Thankfully, in!
What I Miss? A fabulous cheese and Italian deli meat platter paired with a big glass of red wine. We used to indulge in these spreads at least once a weekend and I definitely miss my prosciutto!
Baby's Gender? We found out Tuesday at my level 2 ultrasound!!! But I'm keeping it a secret until our Gender Reveal party this week. Any last minute guesses before I share the news with the world next week?!?
Baby's Name? A boy name is already figured out thanks to a wonderful family tradition in VABeau's family. I've narrowed the girl names down to two at this point but I'm still playing around with various middle name options.
Highlight of the Week? Seeing all of Baby "C's" vital organs, learning that the placenta, etc. is where it should be, and finally finding out what Baby "C" is at my level 2 ultrasound on Tuesday. I have been a little neurotic up until this point because I have taken care of patients whose babies have had various heart, spine, and other issues at work. So with the level 2 finally behind us, I feel like we can really relax and get excited. We also had so much fun telling VABeau's parents and our siblings the gender over the phone and telling my parents and our local friends during our gender reveal party!

Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteyou look great !!!
ReplyDeleteGiven the strong craving of grapefruit, I'll say girl!
ReplyDeleteThis is all so exciting, so happy for y'all. I remember drooling over your cheese and meat spreads while I was pregnant. Not to mention the wine. So glad you're doing so well, enjoy every moment! And the boppy pillow will become even more invaluable in the coming months.
